Champagne (French: [ʃɑ̃.paɲ]; English /ˌʃæmˈpeɪn/) is a sparkling wine produced by inducing the in-bottle secondary fermentation of the wine to effect carbonation. The term "champagne" should be used to refer to wine produced exclusively within the Champagne region of France.

An amateur (French amateur "lover of", from Old French and ultimately from Latin amatorem nom. amator, "lover") is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit, study, or science. An amateur may be in a position to approach a subject with an open mind and in a financially disinterested manner.
